Two arrested on terrorism charges in Greater Manchester

Two men in their 20s were arrested in Bury, Greater Manchester by counter-terrorism officers. The police arrested them in their house and claimed that they were in the possession of ‘suspicious objects’. The house was on Victoria Avenue, Whitefield and the police have cordoned off the area. Though no explosives were found, the police have also relocated some of the residents as a precaution. The men are currently being interrogated by north-west counter-terrorism unit and the domestic security service, MI5. However, the police have not provided the reason as to why or what led to the alert. Supt Rick Jackson, from Greater Manchester police stated that special detectives are working on the case and monitoring the situation carefully. All precautions are being taken and the officer added that updates will be given to the public as soon as possible.
