PMO Carried Out Parallel Negotiations In Rafale Deal: Rahul Gandhi
Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked Narender Modi over the Rafale deal after a recent release of media report stating that “The Defence Ministry had protested the “parallel negotiations” being carried out by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) with the French side.
During his Press Conference at AICC headquarters in New Delhi he also said that there should be a JPC, an inquiry in the matter to bring out the truth”.
Official documents reveal that the Defence Ministry protested that the position taken by PMO was “contradictory to the stand taken by MoD and the negotiating team.
Rahul Gandhi also referred to a note prepared by the then Defence Secretary G Mohan Kumar in 2015 which says, “It is desirable that such discussions be avoided by the PMO as it undermines or negotiating position”
Addressing the “young men and the armed forces” of the country, Gandhi said, “This is about your future. You are the defenders, protectors. You die for us. It is clear that the PM has bypassed the process. It is an open and shut case.”
Mr. Gandhi insisting on his demand for JPC probe in the deal said, “You can investigate any of our members. Launch a probe against Robert Vadra, P Chidambaram or anyone in the party. But investigate Rafale deal.”
