Threat Of Major Terror Attack In Kashmir Reason Behind Deploying 10,000 Troops: Govt
The National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval had gone to Kashmir Valley for a meeting with the top officials of the counter security grid in Jammu and Kashmir in view of a major terrorist attack threat in the Kashmir Valley.
100 companies of paramilitary groups have been deployed in the Kashmir Valley in view of a attack on Indian soil being planned by the Pakistan Army-backed terrorist groups, confirmed the security establishment on 28th July 2019.
After the successful organisation of the Panchayat elections in the state and the peaceful conduct of Amarnath Yatra, in which a record number of pilgrims have taken part, the terrorist groups and ISI want to further escalate the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister of Home Affairs of India (MHA) ordered the deployment of 10,000 paramilitary personnel, ostensibly, for 'counter-insurgency' and for maintaining 'law and order' in the Valley on 27th July 2019. The people in the Valley assumed the troops to be deployed in order to arrest people after the possible scrapping of Article 35A which gives the special status to state subject.
Over 450 companies of Central Armed Police Force (40,000 troops) are already deployed for the security of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, while convoys carrying additional companies of these forces are reaching the Valley through the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
